Everyone in the town puts their best on the celebrations. Tradition and popular fervour is felt on the town’s streets and squares of Pilar de la Horadada.
Throughout the whole year there are festivals, crafts markets, cultural and sport events, fairs, culinary festivals...completing an extense holiday calendar.
During the Holy Week and Easter, several religous processions take place, showing the great devotion of the native people, as well as the magnificent religious statues from different sculptors, such as Sánchez Lozano, important image maker of the 20th century. The main processions are the "Holy Burial" and "the Silence" where lots of people participate actively and observe the procession.
The "San Isidro" Pilgrimage runs along several kilometers and the people of Pilar de la Horadada participate actively in the procession, either on foot, on horseback, by wagon or buggy, to follow the sculpture of the Saint Isidore.
In Torre de la Horadada the main celebrations take place in honour of Our Lady of the Assumption. It is a festival in which we can highlight the Dawn Rosary early in the morning. After it, sailors take the statue of Our Lady Mary on a boat decorated with petals and flowers, and a procession around the bay takes place.
You can not say that you know Pilar de la Horadada or its people without having been here the main festivals in October. Our Lady of the Pillar is worshiped with offerings and parades in which the "pilareños" show their passion and excitement. As an epilogue a float parade is held, in which the different clubs and associations of the town wear costumes and are the main protagonists of the night.
The colourful of the festival is transmitted with the joy of the people of Pilar de la Horadada and the visitors that celebrate the festivals.
