On the inland area of Pilar de la Horadada, there are some attractive excursions to be made near the town or on the Sierra de Escalona.
There are two signposted routes along the Río Seco riverbed -a watercourse 19 kilometres long- that are worth the visit. One of them is 4 kilometres long and the other 10 kilometres (10km - ROUTE CLOSED TEMPORARILY), stretching from the natural area in Pinar de Campoverde to the mouth on the beach of Mil Palmeras. In these walking tours we can see the effects of water erosion on a substrate of compacted sand. The botanical species associated with these watercourses are the reed, rattan and the tamarisk, surrounded by a large pine forest.
Download the brochures of both routes here.
La Senda del Pilar al Mar is a path that connects the commercial centre of Pilar de la Horadada to the beach. There are 3 km. of way following the urban boulevard which runs parallel to the urban watercourse. You can do it on foot, by bicycle or even on skates.
If you prefer the pilgrimage, you can start your spiritual journey to Santiago de Compostela from our sixteenth-century watchtower of Torre de la Horadada. From here begins one of the routes of the Camino de Santiago del Sureste (The Southeastern Part of St James' Way). Pay us visit in our Tourist Info to receive the stamp on your badge of the pilgrim
